Two months...

We went to Charlie's two month appointment last week (Dec. 22nd) and here is what the doctor said...

Height: 23 1/2 in (75th percentile) - he grew 1 inch
Weight: 11 lbs 1 oz (25th percentile) - he remains to be long & skinny!
Head Circumference: 16 in (75th percentile)

It was horribly sad to see him get his first round of shots. He broke my heart with his little tears. I thought we were all good because he slept the whole way from Fort Worth to Marshall (for Christmas) but as soon as we took him out of his carseat, he lost it. Carson and I have never heard him cry like that. His little leg was a little red and swollen and he had a low grade fever. (Being a pediatric nurse practitioner I quickly reassured myself that these are normal reactions) We were trying the whole "wait to give Tylenol" method. Well, that was the last time for that method! We gave him Tylenol right away and after about an hour, he was smiling and grinning at us all!!!! So when it comes time for 4 month shots we'll give the Tylenol as soon as we get home from the doctor. That was the only bad thing about his visit. Dr. Ozaeta said he looked very healthy!!

Our sweet boy really is such a good baby. He smiles and coos at us all the time. We are reminded every time we look at him what a little miracle and blessing God has given us.

Movie night...

Well I had to talk Carson into renting this the other night because he thought it was only a chick flick and... He actually enjoyed it because it was about cooking and I liked it because it was about blogging! If you haven't seen it, rent it! We decided that our parents would all enjoy this movie. I think it only had 1 bad word! :)

One of my new favorite pics of Charlie (8 weeks old). I just snapped this with my cell phone before we went on a walk. He is getting so big! I love this hat on him because we call him "Bear" (sorry if these are a little out of order) Carson new favorite sport... duck hunting! Here he is with two of our good FW friends, Mark & Chris.

I found this picture that I never posted from the day my water broke. Can you believe my belly is so HUGE?!?!? Yikes!! But the sweetest baby in the world came out of there 23 1/2 hours later. We're so in love with him!!
This was from Kendall & Zach's engagement party (I think I was 37 weeks prego). We cannot wait til her fun wedding in May in Belize!!

I cannot help but crack up laughing when I see this because he looked so cute in his Christmas attire and then he just spit up everywhere. I can't believe I caught in on camera!!

Cookies & Castles 2009. I enjoy this fun event every year! The TCU Tridelts (my alumi) raises money for Cook Children's Oncology department every Christmas. At the luncheon we decorate gingerbread houses. I went this year with my sweet friend, Meaghan, who is an oncologist at Cook.

Sorry I'm a little late in posting this but my brother and his wife welcomed their precious little girl last Monday, December 7th!! I cannot wait to hold and love on her next week during the Christmas holiday!!

Charlie's 1st Thanksgiving!!

We had such a wonderful Thanksgiving in Kerrville visiting Carson's family. I need to say that my mother-in-law ROCKS!! She spoiled me and Charlie the whole visit... cooked lots of yummy food, gave Charlie lots of lovin' and let me catch up on some much needed sleep. I even had my first outing without my sweet baby, while Wendy watched him. I went to the movies with my friend Ashley to see "New Moon." Thanks Wendy, love you!!

This is my best friend from college, Allison who FINALLY got to meet Mr. Charlie!!!!!! To say she was obsessed is an understatement. :) The only time I held him during our visit was to change his diaper... then back into her arms. Charlie loves you too Aunt Alli!!

1 month old!!

Charlie was officially 1 month old this past Friday. He went to the doctor last week and...

Length: 22 1/4 inches (75th percentile) He grew 2 inches!!!!!!!!
Weight: 8 lbs 10 oz (50th percentile)
Head Circumference: 15 1/2 inches (75th percentile)

Basically our little guy is long and skinny!! Dr. Ozaeta said he looked great!

Charlie and I made our first road trip this past weekend for my sister-in-law's baby shower! He did so well on the car trip there and back to Marshall and slept the whole time. (3 hours) What a trooper! This is Laura with her mom, Carolyn, and my mom at the shower. It turned out to be a beautiful shower and she got lots of great gifts. It was great to see my family!!
Here I am with Mrs. Renee' at the shower. I grew up with her boys but she was my mentor in high school and it is always a joy to see her sweet face when I'm home.
Carson's (paternal) grandparents came to visit their first great grandchild!! Mom A and Papa couldnt' get enough of him. Mom A's father was also named Charlie. :)
My cousin, Kevin, and his girlfriend had to come love on our little man too. Shelby was so good with him... I think she needs to move to FW and be our nanny!!
Here he is sleeping on his changing pad at my parents' house, 3 1/2 weeks old. What's funny is that he sleeps like I do with one leg hiked up. For all of you mom's out there, DON'T WORRY!!! He doesn't sleep on his tummy if I'm not watching him or at night... he sleeps on his sides or back. He was doing a little tummy time and it just wore him out!!

In case you were wondering where Carson was while we were in Marshall... he went hunting with my Papa (dad) in Kansas. No pics to show for it... sorry :)

Charlie's first Halloween was pretty low key. We hung out together watching football and just enjoyed a lazy Saturday!! That night some of our friends came over to hang out and help us hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters. I worked at the hospital the past 3 years so it was fun to see all the cute kids in their costumes this year and apparently we live in a popular neighborhood for trick-or-treaters... we gave out two 5 lb bags of candy! The dentists love us this year :)
